How To Work More Effectively with Your Staffing Provider in 2012

December 5th, 2011

2011 is drawing to a close.  Time to take stock of your company, evaluate your business relationships and plan for the year ahead.

So how would you describe your current relationship with your staffing service?

  1. Playing the field – you’re still shopping around for “The One” – that perfect staffing service.
  2. Getting to know you – you hire the occasional on-time (temporary) employee, but don’t know too much about your current supplier.
  3. Going steady – you regularly use staffing and have a preferred supplier.

No matter what phase you are in, these tips will help you take your staffing relationship “to the next level” by working more effectively together.  And if you have a fear of commitment, consider this:  a more successful relationship with your staffing supplier means better results for your company.  Here are some ways to achieve them:

Plan ahead.

It’s never too soon to discuss an anticipated need with your staffing service.  By giving your provider adequate lead-time, you optimize your chances of finding an ideal candidate for the assignment – especially if the position is difficult to fill.

Be thorough when ordering.

A well-placed order will yield a better quality fill.  So before you pick up the phone, consider the following criteria:

  1. Type of need – if the position is on-time (temporary) or direct (permanent).
  2. Quantity – how many individuals you require.
  3. Job description – define and prioritize specifics for each position about required skills and experience, job responsibilities, expectations, and performance goals and standards.
  4. Personality traits – the types of behavioral traits that will best fit your corporate culture.

Get to know one another better.

  1. Learn more about your staffing provider’s full range of capabilities.  Beyond merely filling orders, your provider can: show you ways to save money; increase your flexibility; and provide valuable employment-related expertise.  Request a facilities tour or capabilities demonstration to learn all your staffing provider can do for you.
  2. Help them get to know you better.  Invite your staffing representative in to tour your location, meet your employees, and see first-hand how your organization operates.

Achieve Better Staffing Results in 2012

ABR Employment Services would like to learn more about your company’s goals and needs for the upcoming year.  We’d also welcome the opportunity to show you what we can do for your organization.  To schedule a tour or capabilities demonstration, contact us today.

How to Take Advantage of a Company’s Social Media Presence

October 21st, 2011

Loving Social Media In Job Searches

As you browse a company’s career site, pay attention to more than just the job listings. Those little social media icons aren’t there just to look pretty – they’re a way to connect to people within the company.

Here are some tips to help you use social media in your job search:

Search Well
If a company doesn’t display social media icons on their home page, check the career page. If you don’t see anything, there’s a chance the company has not yet had an opportunity to advertise their social side. But, don’t take that as a sign that the company does not have a social presence. You can always “Google” the company; their social sites should appear in the search results.

Show Interest
Send a tweet or post a Facebook comment and there’s a chance you’ll get an answer almost immediately. Comments, ‘likes,’ retweets, and posts on a company’s Facebook or Twitter page not only show your interest, but also get your name out there.

Be Professional
If you’re going to reach out to a company over social media, make sure your profile picture is business professional and your posts and tweets are rated G. Delete any that aren’t.

Utilize Your Connections
Growing your social network is the best way to find an “in” at your target company. Follow and friend acquaintances, former coworkers, or mentors on your favorite social networks and you might discover that you have a friend of a friend who works at a company you’ve been eyeing. Don’t be afraid to do a little self-promotion. Send a tweet or post to friends and followers letting them know that you’re on the hunt for a new opportunity.

Stay Organized
When you follow @ABRjobs on Twitter, you’ll see a steady stream of our latest job opportunities every time you log in. Organize the job feeds you follow by clicking Lists>Create a list>Save List on your Twitter homepage. Add a user to your new list by clicking the drop down menu to the left of the “Follow” button. Choose “Add to list” and select your list.

Separate your Facebook friends from your favorite pages by clicking Lists>Create a List from the left sidebar. Click “Add friends” then choose “Pages” from the drop-down menu to add a page, such as the ABR Jobs Facebook page, to your list. We update the ABR Jobs Facebook page frequently with upcoming job fair events, free job seeker webinars, new jobs and more.

ABR Named to Inavero’s 2011 Best of Staffing Talent List

September 19th, 2011

ABR Employment Services made Inavero’s 2011 Best of Staffing Talent list, the only award recognizing firms that deliver an  exceptional experience for talent they help find jobs.  Less than 1% of staffing firms in the US and Canada have been named to this list for talent satisfaction.  Best of Staffing Talent is a  prestigious award that distinguishes staffing firms who outperformed the industry’s satisfaction benchmark by nearly 50%.

This national survey was conducted by Inavero, a nationally recognized research company and American Staffing Association partner.

ABR received satisfaction ratings of 9 or 10 (10 being the highest rating) from 69 percent of our supplemental staff.  This rating is significantly higher than the industry’s average of 50%.  ABR secured the Best of Staffing Talent designation by earning an average Net Promoter Score that was nearly double the national staffing industry benchmark for talent who had been placed in a job.
